Hey everyone, I have a question. I have a new (had her about 2 months) draft mare, I have had them before, but its been a while. My mare had her feet trimmed a week and a half ago, and we have had rain off and on, and its muddy. Well, today, she was limping a little earlier, I checked her feet and joints, no heat, and it wasnt too bad of a limp, so was thinking that maybe she just slipped and twisted something a little. Tonight when I came home, to feed, she was limping pretty bad. I checked again, still no heat and nothing in the hoof. It seems the pain is in her toe. I sent a message to my farrier, to maybe see if he can come out and look for an abscess. My question is, are draft horses more likely to get abscesses when the ground is super wet? I did give her bute, to help with the pain for the night.
