Hey everyone, I just wanted to post a few thoughts to the group about tonight’s game: 1. As some of you know, there were a few people that treated the KHS band disrespectfully tonight, and I’m sorry that you guys had to put up with it. I know that sort of thing can be incredibly disheartening to hear from some of your audience members, but don’t get too upset about it, they don’t know what it means to be a part of an ensemble like the Pride of Kathleen, they don’t know what you guys have to do to go on field and perform music in a marching band. (remember, even great artists have critics or “hecklers”) 2. I’m not going to sugar-coat my thoughts on the half-time performance tonight, there is a lot that needs to be worked on, and that performance itself wasnt very good, HOWEVER, don’t dwell too much on that performance. Realize mistakes were made, know what mistakes were made/how to go about fixing them, and work hard on what challenges you know you need to make for the next performance to be better. If your focus is only on the past, you won’t make progress for the future. I know without a doubt great things will happen for this band if everyone is willing to show up for rehearsals and put effort into those rehearsals. Be the best musicians you can be, work with each other, and challenge yourselves to be nothing short of fantastic.
