Hey everyone. I know you might not be interested in humoring me but I would like to discuss a discussion of ideas, specifically Philosophy. In todays current culture we seem to have some idea of what it could be but I dont believe we actually know what it is. So what is Philosophy and how do you categorize is? Is philosophy dead? In an interview with Stephen Hawking, he quotes the phrase philosophy is dead in the similar vein of Friedrich Nietzsche in which he says God is dead but well talk about him later on. Hawking claims science is able to present the objective knowable but is it truly possible as I find it really hard for our Natural world to teach me Ethics and Epistemology. (Ill define each of the branches of philosophy at another point.) So for about some weeks, Ill be posting Philosophical Debates and want to see how you truly feel on this and please be respectful to others as this is supposed to be a rational discussion not a mudslinging ramble. Ill re-post this every day until Wednesday of next week so we can discuss our next topic which will be aligned with the History of Philosophy. So my 2 main questions are What is philosophy and do we need it?
