Hey everyone! I would love for some of you guys to join me this Wednesday, for the SAG screening of the independent film THE DIVORCE PARTY. Shot in LA for a budget you could never guess given the production value (no small accomplishment, let me tell you) this a sweet, timely film with a lot of heart. The first feature helmed by up and coming director Edy Soto makes it pretty clear that he is someone to watch. I have always been a fan and supporter of his. I also know how hard it is to make a good film. I knew it would be fine, but it is honestly great with some really poignant moments and a through line that is so viscerally part of the zeitgeist I would be extremely surprised if it doesnt resonate in one way or another with a good majority of my generation and the next. Those of you who know me, know I love to support other artists, but am rarely pleasantly surprised, especially to the point of almost being blown away. I was prepared to have to ready my constructive criticism, choosing my words carefully, thinking critically about how things could be improved, problems solved, etc., which always happens, even in a good movie, sure, but I was so relieved when it ended and I realized that I had really connected with it, thoroughly enjoyed it and before any of that hard stuff got to just sincerely say, I loved it.
