Horse & Country TV is looking for a full-time web developer to manage and develop its Drupal and Wordpress websites. The developer is responsible for the performance of the sites, their continued development and ensuring problems are fixed quickly and effectively. You’ll be part of the web team (which consists of content editors in the UK, Netherlands and Sweden, as well as a graphic designer) and also be in charge of our web servers (LAMP stack on a Rackspace cloud server) internal servers (Windows 2008 server and Ubuntu) and overseeing the mechanical and software upkeep of our Macs, PCs and edit suites. Our award winning production website (horseandcountry.tv) sees over 100,000 unique visitors a month, peaking at over 1,000 concurrent connections, so it’s vital that the site be well maintained and perform under high loads. We have a number of regional and celebrity-specific websites, built in Wordpress, which also need managing and developing. Given the nature of our 24h service, there will be occasional evening and weekend work. Key skills and experience: Excellent Drupal skills, including creating custom modules. Wordpress and general LAMP skills. Linux and Windows Server admin and upkeep skills. Experience in managing sites and restoring from backups. Administrate our advertising server (self hosted openx). Managing domain names, DNS settings and associated renewals etc. An understanding of basic networking principles. Negotiating with outside suppliers of IT and telecommunications services, Maintaining our online video library, including technical liaison with the suppliers of our streaming service. Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
