Hey, everyone. Ive had a very hard and potentially life-threatening week-- ask me about what happened in person or through message or on Skype. But its led to something very different. Two years ago, I graduated from Rutgers and wanted to go to Pakistan and get the language skills I needed to apply my Western talents to help the Afghan refugees in the country. Life had other plans-- I got kicked out informally, and then when I went to Yemen as a fallback, I was deported. I then had to relocate to Germany very quickly, and discovered that Europe can be the home Ive never really had. My condition has stabilized now, though Ill need until about July to be fully okay again. But Ive decided to return to that original plan, because it is the only thing that has ever made sense. I will be hopefully spending part of Ramadan in Pakistan, where I will talk to people about what I can tangibly do to help the refugees, and after that, will either start my MA at either Manchester or SOAS, leaning towards the latter. Europe is my home now, but there is work to be done, and with all your support, I am going to give my life to the people whose lives my ancestral home has done its part to destroy. InshAllah.
