Hey everyone, Jerry was involved in a nasty accident with a table saw yesterday. He was transferred from Acadian Medical Center to LGMC. Dr Schutte performed surgery on his fingers. The index finger took the worse damage. Jerry and I were concerned that hed lose it. His thumb also received severe damage and his 3 remaining fingers were injured just not to the extent of the first two. I had such a good feeling about Dr Schutte. He seemed very meticulous and type A personality... which is what you want in a surgeon. He met with us this morning and was flabbergasted by the damage Jerrys fingers encountered. He asked Jerry to move his fingers....he did!! He touched Jerrys fingers and he has some sensation /feelings in the thumb and index. He was highly impressed and the nurses were amazed that he was feeling anything so early on post surgery. The next weeks/months will be telling as to how much function he will gain back. He will be doing therapy every day on his fingers. We were able to come home this afternoon. On a final note, Id like to the staff/friends/work family of AMC for providing such wonderful care to Jerry and being so supportive and loving to me as I finally let my tough wall fall and broke down. To SLEMS paramedic and EMT, thanks for the spiritual talk on our ride to Lafayette. To all the staff, Drs, medical personnel, etc at LGMC, Thanks for your extreme kindness, making us laugh and going out of your way. You have no idea how your personalities and kindness took our minds off of the reason we were there and eased my emotions. To all the family and friends that showed up at AMC &/or LGMC, called, text, made me laugh during his surgery.... THANKS!!!! You really lifted our spirits and made us feel loved. I cant even begin to tell you what your support means to us. To all whom are extremely concerned about Jerry, the way his friends are.concerned about him : he says dont worry he didnt hurt his hunting hand. He sadly did therapy in his rifle and bow pose this morning. Pictures below --Amanda
