Hey everyone! Lets help spread the word to save all of UBC - TopicsExpress

Hey everyone! Lets help spread the word to save all of UBC Athletics and come #SellOutTheDoug There has been a lot of negative energy surrounding the campus the last few weeks with the Sports Targeting Review initiative. I know today was tough on a lot of the athletes, family and alumni memebers for the teams who did not get approval from this phase in the targeting review. Instead of supporting the cutting of any teams or programs, we need to fight together to save all of the sports and to increase funding, awareness and excitement for all of our athletes, teams and promote a unanimous love passion for our university. The easiest way and best way to show that love and loyalty to our univesity is to cheer loud at all of our sporting events with as many people as possible there... and of course wearing the T-Birds yellow and blue! The hockey team wants to invite everyone to come and try to sell out our remaining home games of the season and get crazy in the Doug (Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre) as we make a push for the playoffs! #SellOutTheDoug Here are the dates of our remaining home games: Friday: January 24, 7:00pm Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre Saturday: January 25, 5:00pm Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre Friday: February 7, 7:00pm Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre Saturday: February 8, 7:00pm Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre We are trying to partner with anyone who will show that same love for our Athletics Programs as we do. If anyone has any ideas or people that want to get in touch that are willing to help out and support our progams for these games as partners feel free to contact me or any of the athlete community. We want to have attendance as high as possible to sell out UBCs biggest venue, and we would love it if we can have as much support as possible from our beloved community. Some of the ideas we want to put forward but us as the players just dont simply have the resources for as of yet, which is where we need the help: Pre Game BBQ/ Tail Gate Partys a few hours before the game in the fields and parking lots around the arena with some food and drinks and some good music to get everyone hyped up for the game. Potentially have busses or school busses to round up all the students living in the dorms to bring them to the pre game bbqs and to the game of course. Also to potentially partner with a local bar or pub who would want to proivide busses/shuttles to their establishment for all of those people looking to hit the town after. People helping people! Possible minor hockey event nights where we get as many minor hockey kids from around the lowermainland to the games wearing their jerseys. This one hits home for us as hockey players. If our mens hockey team is no longer, then there is no one for our grass roots level athletes to look up to and to look forward to in their career in order to be able to pursue academic excellence and CIS level hockey within our own province. This is true for all the sports and we need to be able to be the pinnacle for supporting local athletes who want to pursue acedemic and athletic careers at one of the best universities within their own province. If anyone has any ideas or thoughts please feel free to get in touch with any of us. We have a lot of seast in the Doug and we need to start filling them all! Thanks for your time everyone.. and i hope to see you all in the Doug this weekend and in February! #SellOutTheDoug
