Hey everyone! This semester, as you may know, the Charity Committee is supporting Livres Solidaires, a belgian charity which raises money to buy books to send to Haiti. Reading is essential to education all over the world, as well as a good way to relax after a long day of school. We thought that we could start something that binds both reading and raising money for our charity - Just as the Ice Bucket Challenge raised money for ALS, the Shelfie challenge, hopefully, will raise money for Livres Solidaires. In brief, the Shelfie challenge consists of taking a picture of your bookshelf, pile of books, school books, or any reading material you have around you, and picking out 3-5 books as your favorites. The books can be ones that you have with you, or ones that you dont have. After posting the Shelfie, you have to do one of the following two things. You can either donate a book to a local bookstore, charity, or book drive, OR you can donate money in the money tin in the common room. (If you are not a part of UCM, and you know a place where you can donate money for a literary cause, that is also fine). We hope that you will enjoy this challenge!
