NASA Jet Propulsion Lab The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is NASAs lead center for the robotic exploration of our solar system. Our core competency is the end-to-end implementation of unprecedented missions to study and understand Earth, our solar system, and the universe with technical excellence in all aspects of engineering, hardware and software. Software is critical at JPL and spans many fields in computer science. Projects can range from ensuring the continued operations and success of current missions to cutting-edge research and technology development for future missions. These are a few of the software projects we are currently engaged in: * 3D visualization, imaging, and simulation environments to aid Martian rover planning and driving. * Onboard spacecraft autonomy and intelligence to optimize science data collection. * Large-scale data systems to ingest and archive earth and planetary observations from NASAs spacecraft. * Distributed computing, cloud computing, big data architectures to analyze decades worth of data to study our climate. * Advanced geospatial technologies to map Earth and other planetary bodies. * Interactive web tools, user interfaces, and APIs to analyze and disseminate science data. * Science algorithm design and implementation to convert spacecraft observations to meaningful science data. * Software system engineering to ensure the quality and interoperability of the software. We are looking for students passionate in computer science and software and welcome all candidates who want to further humanitys scientific knowledge and understanding of our planet and the universe. For 2015, Sage Corps will run programs in Argentina, Brazil, Chicago, Colombia, Hong Kong, Ireland, and Singapore. Past students made incredible contributions to their companies, whether it was personally raising $500,000 USD for a seed round or developing a new, revenue-generating product for a startup. In addition to the internship experience, students also attend tech conferences, networking events, investor pitches/demo days, and a speaker series held at multinational corporations. Finally, each student connects with a Sage -- a successful business leader in the United States who provides career advice and potential job contacts/opportunities.
