Hey everyone! for those of you that were here last year you probably remember me getting really excited and talking about the National Bone Marrow Registry at practice and registering a whole bunch of people from the band! well an organization Im a part of will once again be hosting our annual bone marrow registration drive and if anyone is interested in knowing more or registering feel free to let me know and Id be happy to bring you information to practice on Thursday! Basically you are joining the national list of people who would potential be interested in donating blood stem cells or bone marrow to someone who most likely has cancer and needs a life saving transplant. It is not a guarantee you will ever get called, it is not something that forces you to say yes if you are someones match in the future! You can go to the stadium, Broward Dining, Turlington, Shands Sun Terrace, or the Reitz and all it takes is a quick swab of the cheek and a simple form! I am blessed enough to get to work with some of these children waiting for these life saving transplants and can tell you it is a choice that will forever change someones life. Some fun facts for you to know: -there is a 1 in 1,000 chance you will ever be someones match -if you are a match and eligible to donate almost 80% of the time all they need is peripheral blood stem cells and it is almost as simple as giving blood -if you do need to undergo a bone marrow procedure it is extremely easy and will leave you with no lasting effects! -you are responsible for no kind of medical costs -YOU CAN SAVE SOMEONES LIFE!!!! please talk to me if you have questions about registering. it is a cause I am very passionate about and I will gladly explain more to you! and come visit me at the stadium tomorrow and get registered! :)
