Hey everyone, thought Id try my hand at writing a short essay just for fun Six Months by Jonathan Krukoff My favorite football team (Seattle Seahawks) are about to play in the Super Bowl for the second time in their franchise history. This is pretty cool. Trying to savor the rarity of the spectacle, because this is a team and fanbase I feel deserves this opportunity, and yet I am feeling good about it coming to an end for the time being. Its already been six months since preseason football started. Six whole months. Time seems to go by so fast. Just for fun I thought Id look back at pictures that were taken throughout the post-season, season and even pre-season. I think there was a collective excitement of what this Seahawks team could do. I could see it in the pictures. Just talking to friends, family and random strangers. You could just sense it. After the team having a successful year, you got the sense that people knew. At least the ones in the know. Seahawks fans are pure energy. They arent regular football fans. Why do they set crowd loudness records, why are they so rabid? Why arent they like stereotypical football fans? Im not sure. I dont think anyone really is sure. This is honestly the most Ive ever paid attention to football. I mean, you always watch it, but I have learned a lot this year. Its come to the point where my Dad compared my speaking cadences to the coach of the team. Also, some of this is new to me its really kind of weird the certain undercurrent of disdain from small pockets of football fans have towards fans of the Seahawks. Its like nothing Ive really experienced. Its lonely at the top. The Seahawks fans are always loud but part of it is wanting to be heard. How often does the national sports media talk about the sports teams of the Northwest? And its strange to experience people hatin after so many years of us being content watching other teams play and root for those teams be successful. Is that the answer or another question? To be content with rooting for someone elses success? Besides all of that, its been a fantastic year to be a fan of this team, there is so much to be excited about. Like any year, life can take its toll on people, and its been a fairly tough year for some friends and family. Its cool to see peoples spirits raised with positivity and enthusiasm. Its amazing how long and how short a football season feels. At how the most trivial things in a game can be so important, and how the big things can do a small part in enjoying life. Six whole months. Six exhilerating, fun months. Its an interesting ride, one that Im sure well be ready for when its that time again.
