Hey fellow devs. Im a Federal Contractor who has a Game Design degree and is working on my comp sci degree. I am solo making a Augmented Reality MMO (Java Web App: Java Servers, CSV Databases, HTML, CSS, Java Script). I plan on releasing the MMO Augmented Reality Game Engine when I am done as open source which is why I chose Java. I am a pretty strong programmer and designer but still could learn a thing or two about architecture. I have a few general problems Im running into and could use some help before I move forward: 1) I need the Latitude and Longitude of the user. They are using tablets, laptops, desktops, and mobile devices. Is there an efficient way to gather that information without setting something up for each type of machine? 2) I could use some general game architecture pointers for getting the Main/Starter/Game class in the app to run efficiently. 3) I could use some pointers on general multi-threading on multi-server issues. 4) If anyone is interested in actually using this kind of engine let me know!
