Hey, fellow movie buffs! Its film review time. I saw Divergent (2014) at a movie theater yesterday. It was a rather imaginative very-well-told tale about a futuristic society in which all teenagers are tested in order to be divided into one of five lifelong factions, each with a different focus, except that some people are secretly divergent because they dont clearly fit in a single category, which gives them greater creativity, but also renders them an arguable threat to the established order. This film follows the experiences of one such divergent teenage girl, who leaves her familys selfless faction to join a faction of defenders, finds some romance with a fellow divergent in it, and (with him) eventually defeats a plot by an intelligent woman (who has also been hunting down divergents) to control the defenders in order to massacre the selfless. Although this films five-factions premise didnt make much sense to me, it seemed to be very engaging and skillfully told, overall, with some exciting action sequences. I was too ill to pay very close attention to it, nor to remember it very well, but perhaps someday I can watch it again while in better condition. Id rate it 6/10 stars.
