Hey folks, I guess Im the newbie here. Ill add a few old photos next time I come across them, including ones of my Bermuda and Argentia patches. Cant believe I still have them. i know I still have the Key West patch, but havent seen it in decades. I attended the Fleet Sonar School late 73 to 74. Had orders to Grand Turks before class was out, but I broke my big toe playing soccer on the beach one night... Ended up with a temporary cast (so I could remove it and still go swimming); and was not to be assigned duties requiring walking, standing or stair climbing for 3 months once school was out... nice vacation! Upon medical release, I had orders to Bermuda. I got married there to a young girl visiting from NY, and obtained a sponsored tour of 3 years. Our son was born in Hamilton. We lived in a two-story house across from Mangrove Bay down in Somerset known as the Bull-Pen... It had been kind of a Navy party house... lol! If any of you were in Bermuda after 75 and the briefing wall map on the ops floor was in color... me and a few others had to paint it as punishment... I showed up for an inspection in my old bell bottom whites and pull over instead of the front creased slacks and button up shirt. We transferred to Argentia, New Foundland in 77 and I got out in 78. I know a lot of you here were very dedicated and extended your tours. I was kind of the opposite... always a bit of a troublemaker and ended my tour as quickly as I could. I still prefer guidelines over rules anyday... LOL! Ive hooked up with a few of you in the past week, and Im happy about that! Its really nice reconnecting with old friends and shipmates.
