Hey folks. I hope this helps someone. "...I believe a higher entity that governs the world but He does not intervene in every moment of everyday. In my honest opinion, I believe that entity to be God. I feel that God lets us, the human race, make our own decisions and, if necessary, intervenes to push us in the right direction. He lets us make the wrong decisions in hope that we learn from our mistakes and move forward. I have come to this conclusion by various means. One such mean is the argument of why God would put us on this planet only to be controlled. Would not that become a bore to God? I feel that God wants us to believe in Him and to live moral lives by our own means with His guiding hand in crucial moments. I feel this concept validates the observation that enormous supernatural miracles do not happen every day but small, crucial acts tend to happen often. These small acts may come in the form of a stranger returning a purse that a woman has lost. I vindicate God’s presence as a loving parent that cares for us but understands that His children must make their own decisions; He helps us when it is most needed but He allows us to learn and make mistakes ourselves. In other words, he lets us live our own lives to an extent. God uses major events, like the death of a loved one or the loss of a job, to teach us lessons which are indeed valuable. The course of life is simply a random, deadly, hurtful yet joyful, game of chance. But, if that is so, how does one explain the various phenomenons that have led to life as we know it today? For example, certain scientists believe that life began on Earth by lucky meetings of crucial chemicals at the exact right time and conditions. I find it hard to believe that life began by dumb luck; I feel that something provided the assistance needed to begin life, that "something" is God. The great Italian poet, Durante degli Alighieri, or Dante, states in his work, The Divine Comedy: “In the middle of the journey of our life I came to myself within a dark wood where the straight way was lost.” I feel that most individuals witness the same scenario in their own lives. In these moments, I believe that God provides a helping hand for us; a lifeline to keep us afloat. And, in some cases, I feel that those dark moments are not punishment or bad luck, but learning experiences that God has created for us. I feel that God places certain challenges before us to help us see the “right” path and to help us reap lasting rewards..." I do not know who wrote this but it rang true for me. Food for thought.
