Hey folks. I would never downplay the incident that happened - TopicsExpress

Hey folks. I would never downplay the incident that happened yesterday. It was sad day for snowmobiling and all involved, although snowmobiling needs some positive vibes at this moment. There are a lot of good things going on as well out in the backcountry and sledders have come a very long way with avalanche safety in a very short period of time. We have a long ways to go, but the important part is that we continue to see progress and improve safety. Yesterday VARDA helped install a weather station in the Clemina Creek area as part of a project from the University of Calgarys Applied Snow and Avalanche Research program (ASARC). VARDA was proud to be asked to help out this amazing group of professionals whos goals are to improve the knowledge of avalanches. I filmed this video during the installation. I thought long and hard about posting, due to timing, although education and timing is crucial with our current snowpack and I feel that we need to continue with outreach and try to improve the knowledge and awareness of sledders and quickly and often as possible. We have deep instabities, critical warming, now new surface hoar development, we need to be aware and adaptable. Ride Safe youtube/watch?v=Ub7nYOwDUKI&feature=youtu.be
