Hey friends! Earlier this morning, I received an e-mail from a British filmmaker who I have corresponded with over the past month. I (along with my brother) was interested in signing up to audition for a fairly major role (there arent that many characters in the story to begin with) in this film, which will be shot in Neepawa (of all places) in the late summer/early autumn. But the filming time is the problem, as my brother and I are starting university in September. Shucks! Anybody interested in taking our places...I cant see how it would work for us to miss 10-14 days of class? Read below for more information (e-mail from filmmaker is attached). If you are not interested, disregard this lengthy post: -------------------------------------------------- Hi, guys and gals... Sorry for the mass mail out but, if you have expressed an interest in our film to be shot in Neepawa in September this year, here is some more information as promised. We are now delighted to announce that the film (American Playhouse (working title)) is schedule to happen this year in September which for us is amazing. Id like to thank you all now for showing an interest and do hope that we can accommodate all of you in some way within the project. We are very honest film makers so we would like to add that the film is a low to no budget (self financed) movie so we cannot offer payment, however, we can guarantee an official release (with a great credit) and food will be provided on scheduled shooting days. It will be shot by myself who is a Promax award nominated Director of Photography and award winning British film maker. If nothing else, I can promise you it will look good on any showreel! If youre still interested: AUDITIONS. We have scheduled some auditions which will be held at the VCC (Viscount Cultural Centre) in Neepawa on June 22nd between 3 and 6 pm. These auditions will be run by Debbie Reader. If you wish to attend, can you please drop her an email to arrange a time on [email protected] If you cant attend but would still like to be considered, dont worry; we are accepting video submissions via Youtube. (please see details below on how to do this). CHARACTERS WE ARE LOOKING FOR. Attached is a character list which outlines what characters we are looking for and a write up of what they play out like. Have a look through and find one that you think you may suit. Once you have done this, please drop an e-mail back to scrapfilm@outlook stating your name and which character(s) you would like to audition for. you will then be sent an audition script for that character via return email. YOUTUBE AUDITIONS As above, grab the required script and shoot your own audition. Dont worry about going all out with costumes/props etc, keep it simple. The biggest thing we are looking for is: 1) What you look like. 2) What you sound like. 3) Can this person act and play this character? Simple. Once youve made your video, upload it to Youtube. If you dont want anyone but us to see it, we recommend uploading the video as unlisted. This way, only the person who has the URL (link) for the video can see it. Once it is uploaded, send the link via email to scrapfilm@outlook In advance, thank you. We very much look forward to seeing you soon. If you have and questions, please feel free to contact myself via return email or for auditions, Debbie on the above email. Thanks again, and look forward to seeing you all very soon... An only child and the inheritor of the Playhouse. A popular and attractive girl whose moderately wealthy parents – Frank and Jean – are both deceased having lost their lives in a cabin fire. Fawn now lives with her aunt Jenny and uncle Mike (not seen only referred to). Despite being very attractive Fawn isn’t at all ‘showy’ and in fact quite shy and thoughtful. She is bewildered by the sudden change in her life and is somewhat ‘under the wing’ of her friends. She is dating Kyle Blaker. Kyle Blaker – 22 years old. Kyle is brash and mouthy but not without a degree of intelligence. He is from blue-collar stock and lives with his parents. He has a good mind and is fairly logical when it comes to solving problems, however his ego makes him more than a little sanctimonious. He appears to treat Fawn quite badly and gives the impression of seeing her as a meal ticket and supplier of expensive gifts. He is the brother of Jevan Blaker. Jevan Blaker – 19 years old. Jevan is Kyle’s brother but they are quite different characters in every way. Jevan is ‘quietly intelligent’ and sees his older brother as a know-all jerk although deep down he is jealous of Kyle’s popularity within the group. He often finds himself apologising to Fawn on Kyles’s behalf for his brother’s crass and thoughtless behaviour. Jevan and Kyle do not get along and frequently riff off each other. Whereas Jevan sees Kyle as a jerk, Kyle sees Jevan as an ‘old woman’ and a ‘dry bread’. Jevan has a crush on Fawn which Fawn is oblivious to. Matteus ‘Matt’ Mienczakowski – 19 years old. Matt is Jevan’s best friend and something of a geek. He’s socially awkward and is a bit of a fifth wheel within the group. He’s into computer games and Metallica and has little time for socialising although he tends to go where Indy goes (see below) because he has a crush on her and has fallen under her spell which usually finds him paying for Indy when they eat out or go to the movies etc. even though he comes from a much poorer background that she does and has little money of his own. Indira ‘Indy’ Divani – 20 years old. Despite being of Indian stock, Indy is a ‘valley girl’ type who is very ‘gosh wow’ in her speech and behaviour. She went to High School with Fawn, whom her parents approved of because Fawn was a sensible girl from a good family. Indy is very spoiled and her family are well-to-do. She is very much a daddy’s girl who has never been told ‘no’ by anyone. She is extremely pretty and knows it and uses it to get boys to do things for her. She has tried to play all the boys in the group at one time or another. Kyle just dislikes her ‘air head’ attitude and Jevan just sees her like a buzzing fly around his head. Matt is the only member of the group who seems to have been duped by her ‘charm’. Wendy Shardlow – 21 years old. Wendy is an outsider and not a member of the group. She’s a loner and a Goth type with a ‘so what…’ attitude and dresses head to toe in black. The other friends meet her inside the Playhouse where’s she spends her days just wandering around the place ‘communing with its past’. She’s a ‘bad girl’ who drinks, smokes and swears but that’s exactly what attracts Matt to her… much to Indy’s annoyance. Dorothy Felix – Dorothy Felix is the lawyer who administers Frank and Jean Harriman’s estate. It’s Mrs. Felix that hands the keys of the Playhouse over to Fawn. Ed Clayton – Clayton is the surveyor who is hired by Fawn (through Mrs. Felix) to look over the Playhouse. During his first and only visit he vanishes.
