Hey guys I know that you wont be getting your finalist notifications for a while, and that some of you havent even done your interviews yet, but I just wanted to say something similar to what Abeeha said when notifications were first coming out. I was an NSLI semifinalist last year. And I wanted to study abroad and continue learning Chinese so badly. Like Im sure a lot of you do. And I ended up not getting the scholarship. It was a huge disappointment. I felt like my world was going to collapse. But my summer ended up being great. About a month later, I was given this great last minute opportunity to go to Taiwan for two weeks, and to stay with a host family. It was free for me. And it ended up being one of the best experiences in my life. And I have so many new friends that I absolutely adore. Now obviously opportunities like this dont fall out of the sky for everyone. I was very fortunate. But I think my experience really shows how everything happens for a reason, and that everything will work out in its own way. If I had been accepted for NSLI, then I wouldnt have gone on the Taiwan trip, and Im so glad I did. I didnt get to go to China, but for some strange but amazing and unknown reason, I was able to go to Taiwan. I just want you guys to keep this in mind as you continue your interview and waiting journey.
