Hey guys. Just a quick update from Thursday’s events at the drug law reform event in Durham. The event itself was very interesting for those of us involved in the cannabis community. Mike Barton, Chief of police for County Durham, has publicly stated he is not interested in enforcing the laws around small amounts of cannabis for personal use. Any officer who brings him arrests based on anything other than large scale criminal endeavours, will end up sat behind a desk. This is by no means a license for a free for all. He has simply asked that we as members of the public do this in a responsible manner that is not putting us on his radar or giving Parliament reason to give him more laws to enforce that he admits, even his own men are struggling to keep up with. We were approached by officers from local forces at the end of the night who have an interest in UKCSC’s and Transform’s nine plant solution and we hope to have good news with regards to that in the very near future. This is big guys and we have to get this right. As long as we are cooperating fully with the police and with full transparency we can do something special. There are already organisations getting ready to step up to the plate and do their bit. It’s going to take all of us though. We all have to keep the pressure on by doing things in the ways that UKCSC and Transform have proposed. This really is too important to get wrong. For some, this is a case of life or death. We have to remember why we’re in this. For some it’s the simple love of cannabis, for others it literally is their whole life. Where do you draw the line between medicinal and recreational use? Some people don’t get a recreational life without using medicinally. We all want to do something special. We’re not just in this to kick back and get stoned or for the money to be made from it. We’re in this for the love of our fellow man and want to help everyone we can. This is our time guys! This is our opportunity to make a real difference to a lot of people. This is the north east’s opportunity to show what a real community can do when it pulls together. The community driven culture up here will make the difference. We have a long proud history of leading the way on innovations that has spread across the world when we come together. From ship building, the invention of the railways, coal mining, fishing etc, we have always built industry on the back of our communities. Once again the people of the north east are being asked to step up and lead the way for others to follow. We are at the very forefront of something that could be massive for the UK as a whole yet again. It’s all in our hands guys, wherever you are in the country or the world, we need your backing, support and advice. Tyne and Wear, Teesside and all the clubs under the Tyne Tees banner, we ask you as part of that community, what are you prepared to do and are you willing to step up and be part of something potentially massive for all?? This is where the real work starts. ~tree ~Silver ~DH
