Hey guys, PLEASE take a moment and e-sign this petition! This is something Ive just heard about in the last day or two, and its definitely a cause for concern. Many of us who are performers keep our show persona and our real life persona separate for a wide variety of personal and professional reasons. There are many people out there who are wonderful friends and fans who wouldnt know my real name if they heard it - to them, Janessa Jaye Champagne IS my real name, and in a way it is. Many people use stage names: Elizabeth Stamatina Fey is better known as Tina Fey, the world knows Amanda Lee Rogers as Portia de Rossi, and Michael Caine was born Maurice Micklewhite. Do you know who Caryn Johnson is? Maybe not, but I bet you know Whoopi Goldberg. Would Rock Hudson have been quite as dreamy if hed stuck with Leroy Harold Scherer, Jr.? Sure, anyone can set up a fan page, but its not the same as a Facebook Profile. My stage work translates into my everyday life in varied and complicated ways, and as long as Im not doing anything to mislead anyone, I should be allowed to use my nom de plume...or whatever the hell kind of plume you use on the stage. I dont speak French...PLEASE SIGN!
