Hey, hey, hey! My sister got in from Boston this afternoon. Really nice to see her since I haven’t seen her in way too many years. She was hoping to be here when I start chemo but I don’t know if the appointment I have with the oncologist next Tuesday is for my first session or just another “lets talk about this some more” appointment. I’m getting tired of those. I have to get dressed, then the hullabaloo with the oxygen, wait for the doctor, see the doctor, go home, and get out of my Sunday-go-to-meetin’ clothes and into my comfortable rag tags. By that time, I’m pretty well beat. Too much energy expended for no results. I really want to get this show on the road! She and I sat and talked - well, not so much me - and just enjoyed each other’s company. And she can hear me! Yes, I still whisper and gasp for air, but she can hear me. Jim has put in for an authorization for a second hearing aid and it can’t happen soon enough for me. Neither can an appointment with an ENT. My speech therapist said for me to hold off on the excercises until I know what he/she will want me to do. Or if there’s any more surgery involved? Oh crap! I fell off the barge again. Since I still had my going-out clothes on a couple of hours after Jen got here, we went out for Japanese food. There were some difficult choices for me. Not much of the tempura with that yummy crisp fried carbohydrate coating that I love and almost no rice. Bah! Humbug! #$%&¶! Jen is out taking a walk in these lovely hills and I’m here with you thanking you for helping me through these rough times. So now I shall put next Tuesday and any ENT totally out of my mind and get back to Here And Now, sometimes known as denial. Ah yes. Away on the barge as my Nubian guard directs his staff. He does prefer this assignment to hauling stones to the pyramids. And he keeps us away from hippos too. So now I’m floating down de Nile drinking Thai ice tea and having a casaba melon.
