Hey its Don here again. Got time for another faith building story? Once, there was a piano teacher who was very strict when teaching his students. Not everyone enjoyed her class. Many backed out. But those who stayed became the best pianists in the world. She gave every student a piece to play. “I want you to play these pieces of music not just by heart but by memory.”, she explained. “By memory? Why? Can’t we just glance while we play?” “No!”, she shouted with a loud commanding voice. “I want you to be the best pianists in the world. Not having your musical pieces with you should not be an excuse not to play.” She’s right. A great pianist must know his musical pieces by mind and heart. For a Christian, you must know God’s word by mind and heart. However, if you believe that memorizing scripture is not necessarily, think again. The Word of God is vital in your spiritual life. It guides you in learning more about God. If you carry its verses in our mind and hearts, you can easily remember it and quickly apply it. At the first instance of discouragement, what will be the first thing that comes into you mind? Will you refute the attack with God’s word? Yet, how will it do its supernatural work if you have not memorized it? Truth be told, memorizing scripture is vital to your daily walk as a Christian. If a pianists knows his musical pieces by mind and heart, you as a Christian must know the Word of God the same way. Let me encourage you. Why not memorize a Bible scripture? Come on!
