Hey it’s Farasue! I wanted to make a video about how I blowdry - TopicsExpress

Hey it’s Farasue! I wanted to make a video about how I blowdry my hair. I start with shampooed and conditioned hair. I detangle in the shower and that makes blowdrying my hair so much easier! I won’t confess how many replacement heads for the blow-dryer I’ve had…So take it from me – detangle thoroughly prior to attempting to blowdry. I separate my hair into four sections. I apply about 4 pumps of Liquid Sunshine per section and thoroughly smooth it into my hair. I use a medium heat setting and KEEP THE BLOW DRYER MOVING! A lot of heat damage occurs by letting the hot air set on one section for too long. Start at the ends of your hair and work your way up to the roots. I usually blow dry my hair to about 80% dry and let the air do the rest. I NEVER, I repeat NEVER blow dry my hair and immediately put direct heat on it – meaning a flat iron, curling wand, or curling iron. What happens when you add heat to water? It boils. If you take wet hair and put 300+ degrees of heat on it, it’s going to do damage! So give your hair the opportunity to completely dry. Not dry to the touch, but to the center of the cuticle, DRY! There’s a difference. Even if your hair is damp, and you put direct heat on it, you can get heat damage. I try to make no more than 10-15 passes with the blow dryer. If you see smoke at any point – whether you are blowdrying or using a heat appliance chances are your hair is not completely clean, not completely dry, or you’re using too high of heat and burning your hair. If you see smoke, stop – assess which of the issues is the case. If it’s still wet – let it dry. If it’s not clean, wash it again. If you’re using too high of heat – reduce the heat. Just because your hair is course – doesn’t mean it is tough! It is actually more fragile than you think and I recommend using heat lower than 400 degrees. I’m checking my ends for density and if it’s time for a trim. I can see that the ends are very healthy thanks to Ends Butter and I’m good to for about another couple of months! It’s amazing the shrinkage! Embrace shrinkage – it means your hair is healthy! Heat damage is easy to obtain and hard to overcome. So my advice is to use heat carefully, use a heat protectant, allow your hair to completely dry before applying direct heat to it. Put your hair to bed at night and protect those edges!
