Hey my lovelies! I posted earlier that I had gotten into a car accident, and would be taking a couple of days off. I have looked at each and everyone of your comments and kind words, and it just humbles me. I am amazed at the outpouring of support that I have from all of you wonderful people! So thank you so much for the support, it seriously means the world! On to what happened, to give you a better explanation. We drive a small Acura Integra, two door, small car. My husband loves car like that. My husband was driving, I was in the front passenger seat, and my brother-in-law was behind me. We had stopped at a red light, a silver Cadillac in front of us. The light turned green, but the cars werent moving. I later found out that there were 3 cars in front of the Caddy that werent moving after the light turned green. Anyhoots, a yellow taxi cab van rear-ended us going 50 MPH, forcing us to hit the Caddy at which point the airbags deployed and hit me in the face. My brother is tall (62) so I had to scoot my seat up in order for him to have leg room, thus forcing me closer to the dashboard where the airbag was. At the time, I was on the phone with my grandfather talking about meeting up. I was using my left hand to talk on the phone so not only did the air bag hit my face dead on, but also my left wrist. Somehow my foot ended up get completely shredded in the process. My husband had seen the taxi coming and realized he wasnt slowing down, but didnt have enough time to say anything. He was able to brace himself, and force his head back, avoiding the airbag. Although, his arms bored the brunt of the airbag. He has chemical burns from his fingers and up to his arms. My brother ended up with whiplash, but luckily no other injuries considering the force he was hit with. The driver of the taxi was too busy talking on the phone and shoving a sub sandwich in his mouth, thus the reasoning for not breaking in time. He also refused to get out of his vehicle, even after the police were at the scene, which makes us think he had something he shouldnt have in his car. While my husband was helping me to my father in laws truck, he heard the taxi driver on the phone saying, No, I have to go. I have to deal with this accident, it was my fault this time. Its bad. He is at fault for the entire accident. My daughters were in the car with my in laws, and they were behind the taxi, and luckily not involved in the accident. The three of us didnt feel bad enough to ride in the ambulance, so we went home and laid my daughters down for bed, then went to the hospital. The doctors wrapped my husbands hands and arms up after putting on ointment for burns. My brother was given a neck brace that he hates wearing. I was diagnosed with contusions on my wrist and my foot. Which could take a few days or a few weeks to heal. Thank God our injuries werent more severe. And I thank God that we had decided to put my daughters in the truck with my in laws. Thank you everyone who has been concerned, the support means more than you know. The giveaway I had going will be closed sometime tomorrow after I talk to my wonderful PA, Claire. Because of yalls awesome patience with the giveaway winner I will also have Claire pick a few winners to win an e-book copy of The Lucky Bullet. Soon I will have ARCs of The Missing Pieces ready, and would love to give those away, so Ill have more information on that soon. Love, H.S.
