Hey political FB peeps in Clay County! As you may know, the School Board has been getting hammered for years on their public speaking policy. What you may not know is that the County Commission recently made a significant rollback on the citizens right to speak at public meetings. Citizens are still allowed to speak during comment time and the beginning and end of the meeting but will no longer be allowed to submit cards to speak to agenda items during the meeting. This change in policy seems to have been a unilateral decision of Chair Diane Hutching, who said that the previous policy was confusing. Id like some feedback on this. Should I be outraged? Is this no big deal? Is downgrading the citizens opportunity to speak cool as long as its done by a conservative but not cool when liberals do it? Let me know!
