Hey, the run is on for Saturday, as the Baltimore Marathon folks enter their second week of prep and everyone else enjoys a mere stroll through Roland Park, Mt. Washington, Rodgers Forge and many places in between. As a bonus, everyone is invited to Mark Hyman’s place post-run where a lavish brunch will be offered. What a bargain. The stroll begins/ends at the corner of Roland Avenue and Drohomer Place at 6:30 a.m. Mark lives at 917 Drohomer Place and we’ll gather just outside the development. Drohomer Place runs into Roland Avenue, the stretch of Roland Avenue between Northern Parkway and Lake Avenue. The zip is 21210. Saturday’s route offers distances of 6, 8, 9.2, 10, 12 (Baltimore) and 15.3 miles. There is a bit of a challenge. Mark hosted a run last year, despite a slight derecho that altered his plans somewhat by knocking out his electricity and scattering tress throughout his neighborhood. But not this year, he guarantees. He’s arranged for plenty of parking and runners are asked to park on the north side of Roland Avenue, as close as possible to the “Roland Park North” sign. Spoke to Amy Voiland this morning and she’s feeling much better. She should be released from Sinai Hospital in a few days and will be staying with a friend in Locust Point while she recovers. She really appreciates all of the calls and visits, and is “thankful for having such great friends.” Still collecting shoes for Haiti. Cape Cod and Marine Corp. training begins next week, with New York City the following week.
