Hey this is the Chaplain again. Lately I have been dealing with more and more homeless people in our area. At least once a week, sometimes more, I talk with and try to help someone that has no place to live. I can always pray with them, and I do. And sometimes I can help in other ways. But this homeless situation got me to thinking; it’s really bad to be homeless in this world. If you have a roof over your head and a bed to sleep in– you should Praise the Lord. Because not all of His children have that; and for a lot of different reasons. But, as bad as it is to be homeless here, how much worse it will be to be homeless for eternity. What do I mean by that? In chapter 14 of the Gospel of John Jesus said “There are many rooms in my Fathers house, and I am going to prepare a place for you there.” That’s Good News. In fact that’s Great News! Jesus is making a place for each of us to stay with Him through all of eternity. Wow. How cool is that? But you need to understand, it’s only for the Family. All the homeless people I meet – the truth is I don’t take them home with me. My home is for my family. And it’s the same with the Lord. Do you want to spend eternity with Him? You have to be in the Family. Jesus said it real plain, “You must be born again.” (Jn. 3:3) And he said that to a very religious person. It’s not enough to be religious. You must be born the second time, born from above, born into His Family. May I ask, have you ever been born into God’s family? Maybe that’s something for you to pray about.
