Hey yall its Amber. Just wanted to post a quick update. As yall know Brian has not been following commands to this point. This is something they are needing him to be able to do in order for him to qualify to go to rehab. I have been working with him everyday to get him to do this. To this point hes only been able to spontaneously open his eyes. He has been becoming more aware and will open his eyes as soon as I get in his room and start talking to him or adjusting his arms and legs. This shows he is hearing and feeling and can be aroused. Well today PT came in to get him in his chair again. We were all working to get him situated when Meghan his Physical Therapist said Brian open your eyes for us and he opened them immediately!!! Another command me and the nurses have been trying to get him to do is sticking out his tongue. During his neurostorming he has kept his mouth clinched tight but over the last week or so has relaxed his mouth more. I have really been working hard with him to stick out his tongue. Today his mouth was slightly open already as we were getting him in his chair and we asked him to stick out his tongue and he very slightly did it!!!!! We were all so proud of him after we have been working day in and day out to get him to do it. They of course want him to fully do it and more than just a one time occurance so it is consistent but it was awesome to see him do it! I immediately teared up and grabbed his PTS hand as we both squealed! This shows us he is hearing us and trying to follow the commands. He still has much more he needs to be able to do in order to qualify for Rehab. He is still technically in what youve all heard as a vegetative state but he is making small progress and I will continue to work with him until he is fully awake and fully following commands. They did start him on a medicine last week to help rebuild the neurotransmitters in his brain and that definitely seems to be working. God is answering our prayers and I thank all of you for your continued support. One day soon I know he will be home with me, Marlee and Tucker. I tell him that everyday and I know he hears me. I have struggled ALOT the past week or so. It is very very hard to see my husband like this. I was beginning to lose my hope and faith even as much as I am praying and studying Gods word and even though I KNOW God has this it is still extremely hard. I have just sat and held his hand laid my head on his chest and cried several days in a row. I have prayed in anger and disappointment to God. I prayed on Saturday for a sign that he is still working that miracle in Brian that I know he is. He showed me that today. I have a renewed peace tonight. Hope everyone has a wonderful night and again thank you for all the prayers! Keep them coming!!
