Heya Gang! There are a few Red Rockers doing the step module this weekend, and some power snack ideas were requested...so here is a list of energy packed snack for anyone partaking in days of intense physical activity: ---Boiled eggs ---Hummus with veg sticks or rick crackers (combine 1 can drained, rinsed chickpeas in processor with 1 T tahini (health section), 1 tsp Cumin, 1 garlic clove, salt and pepper, juice from half a lemon, splash of olive oil and mix until smooth...may need to add water) ---Brain balls (combine 2 C Walnuts, 1 C Sunflower seeds 1 C shredded Coconut, 1/3 C Cacao or Carob powder 8 fresh/medjool dates- pitted and coarsely chopped, ¼ C Water Pinch of Salt) ---Banana smeared with almond spread or good quality peanut butter ---1/2 can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed with chopped avocado, red onion, tomato, olive oil, salt and pepper and eaten on its own or with a toasted wholemeal pita pocket triangles ---Celery sticks with hummus and chopped medjool date pieces down the centre ---Rice cakes with almond spread and banana slices ---And as an aside I also stock energy gels ($3), chews ($6) and protein bars ($4) that are good for high physical activity days made with 90% + organic whole food ingredients, unlike most of the others on the market.
