He’s the Master of the Sea…..Mark 4:37-39 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm……..Ella Taylor has been in my head all morning (for those of you who knew her you know what I am talking about) If you did not know Ella Taylor I will only allude to what she was best known for, cause you would have to have heard her voice resounding from the pulpit or on the Old Time Gospel at the Dillon radio station; as she sang “When He reaches out His hand….Billows cease at His commands……Winds and waves obey His will…..When He says to them be still….What man is this? they all did say….As the winds and seas obey….He’s the one who sails with me….He’s the master of the sea. When I was children’s pastor and I was considering a conference title and theme the acronym CHAOS was one that I had considered. I was going to use that with the theme Calm Here Among Our Storm with a hurricane symbol. I did not use it because someone was concerned that it would be misread because God is not the Author of confusion. Therefore I resigned that theme for another time. However, this morning that came back to my remembrance. I agree God is not the Author of confusion but it is not God that puts us in many of the storms we find ourselves in. Sometimes it is merely life and other times it is bad choices and things that we have done to cause chaos around us. The point of CHAOS is that through all of the chaos in our lives……HE IS THE MASTER OF THE SEA!!! The reason I was going to use the Hurricane symbol was that in the eye of the storm there is peace, there is calm. He will keep us as the apple of his eye if we put our trust in Him….. Psalm 17:7-9 Shew thy marvelous loving-kindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them. Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings, From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about. So if you find yourself in a storm today, He is there all you have to do is ask for His presence to surround you and to bring peace. Not that you will not hear the winds howling or the waves crashing….. Or that after the storm passes there will not be major cleanup …..Butyou can trust Him knowing that in the eye of the storm He is there!!!!
