Hi All, I love this page – thank you for all being such great sports! In light of the recent conversations around those Cameleer Mosques in Maree and surrounds, I have a request for the community. I work for a documentary company – WildBear Entertainment – and we are currently working on a series about the great train journeys of Australia, “Making Tracks” and one of the episodes is about the Ghan. Each episode will not tell the story of the journey itself and the landscape it travels through but also of the people who work and travel on these great journey, and live along the path. The cameleers played a vital role for the railways, and we want to be able to tell their story. I would love to find someone who is versed in the history of the cameleers and their involvement in the construction of the rail lines. Do you know anyone who might be interested in talking on camera? In other news I’m also searching for archive of the train. Early images, or even video, of the towns, the workers and the trains. We follow the Ghan, the India Pacific, and the Sunlander. If you have any archive, or a story that you would like to share please get in touch! Thanks all, and thanks for keeping the history of this nation alive! Phillapa
