Hi All! I was wondering if anyone is interested in starting a thrift store like salvation army but just for pets? There could be a toy swap section- I know a lot of dogs and cats get new toys and get bored with them as soon as the novelty wears off- I am imagining a place where people can bring in their dog and cat toys and exchange for other toys for a small charge per item. The rest of the store could be large items and everything else- anything that can be used to help set up a dogs environment and not necessarily things marketed as pet supplies- sleeping items (layered blankets, towels, old dog beds, patio cushions- couch cushions even old couches and futons- barrier items like child gates, x pens, crates,car barriers fencing material- puppy supply items like old newspapers (as silly as this sound new puppy owners need lots of newspaper to start and it can be hard to find sometimes!!)- feeding and treat items like stainless steel and glass bowls (yes even the kind we use for baking- not just pet ones- and a place for training items- dvds- books- clickers- collars leashes muzzles- grooming supplies- supplements-coats and boots- etc etc. The idea is to have people to be able to set up a proper living space for their dogs who wouldnt be able to afford to otherwise and have access to tools that prevent problem behavior that might otherwise put them over the edge and make them give up their dogs. After they are done using an item they just drop it back off at the thrift store. The income would go back into covering the building rent etc and their could be a new items section as well to cover some of the expenses of running the business, Anyway- I know I have a boat load of things to donate and I would be shopping there all the time!!
