Hi All Just a further reminder for the next BAT Mass Ride on - TopicsExpress

Hi All Just a further reminder for the next BAT Mass Ride on the 2nd November. With the E-Roads Act being passed, and opposition being at its highest since the saga began, we believe our actions will add to the mounting decent on this unjust and unfair law. This year alone, local and Central Government wasted R160Billion. That is in real terms the cost of Madupi PowerStation which we are as tax payers struggling to find the funding for. The knock on effects of the wastage is impacting everyone, and we as the biking community have the courage to oppose this. That said, we are again appealing for your support in this endeavour to add another nail to the Toll gate coffin. Our meeting point will be as in the past, the Stone Ride Shopping Centre off Modderfontien Rd in Edenvale (behind Greenstone Shopping Centre) from 7 am on the 2nd November. At 9 am, we will head North on the N3, then onto the Grasmere Toll Plaza. There the Bikers are to legally pass through the gates, paying in large currency i.e. R100 notes. Payment would be done by taking ones time to stop, find our wallets pay and then kit up again. That should take a few minutes to complete each biker and the authorities can take no action against us. With enough bikers and clubs there, the backlog in traffic can be tremendous. Once through the gates, the first bikes are to assemble till enough bikes have gathered to do the return trip and start the process over from the other side. About 9km from the gate is an off ramp where they can turn around and re take the gate from the other side. We will be asking media to attend the blockade. The objective of the Mass Ride, is to demonstrate to the authorities that we have the masses of bikers supporting our cause, and we will continue our opposition to the implementation of e-tolls in Gauteng and across the nation. Additional BAT Mass Rides are planned, in Port Elizabeth, East London, Durban and Bloemfontein on the same day, at the same time. Cape Town will have a further Mass Ride on the 23rd November. It is our hope to have in excess of 10 000 bikes on this Mass Ride, but that can only happen if we have the Gauteng councils full support. As pledged, we will hold the Mass Ride early @ 9am, to have it completed by 11 am, which then leaves all the council members sufficient time, to travel to the various council jols across the province. Further to this, we will publically punt the local council jols at the start and finish of the Mass Ride, and encourage all in attendance to ride to these jol en Mass. We will ask those attending Day Jols to be the first through the gates so they can then head out as soon as they are through the return Gates. The Protest would officially end once we have gone through the first time. Please can you distribute the attached and encourage your council clubs to throw their full support behind the BAT initiative. With your help, Urban Tolling and national tolls for bikers can be abolished if we can keep the momentum and show our decent. We appreciate your on-going support of the cause and the support given on previous runs. Honour and Respect to each of you and your members.
