Hi All!! Today I have been diffusing a mix of Pine, scotch, Cypress & Spruce, black. The smell is very refreshing and reminds me of walking in a fragrant forest!! Pine scotch (Pinus sylvestris) has a great refreshing pine aroma with a hint of spicy sweetness and is recommended for arthritis, rheumatism, muscular aches & pains, sciatica and other nerve pain issues due to its anti-rheumatic/neuralgic and rubefacient properties. Pine can also be used for respiratory system issues like colds, flu, bronchitis, throat infections, sinusitis and coughs due to its antimicrobial, antiseptic and mucous clearing properties. In addition, pine can be used for cystitis, indigestion, mild liver and gall bladder issues, low blood pressure and gout. Pine stimulates the adrenal glands and nervous system so may be helpful when treating adrenal sluggishness/exhaustion, chronic fatigue and feelings of apathy or dispondancy. Pine is reviving, promotes feelings of positivity, restores self-confidence and enhances our endurance to face lifes challenges. Pine can irritate sensitive skin so use in moderation and always patch test first. Avoid if you have high blood pressure and it will negate homeopathics. Cypress (Cupressus semipervirens) has a woody and slightly spicy scent with a hint of sweetness. It is recommended for sluggish circulation, fluid retention, chilblains, varicose & thread veins, haemorrhoids, muscular cramp and rheumatism because it has antispasmodic, anti-rheumatic and vasoconstrictive properties. Cypress is also a good choice for acne. oily skin, excessive perspiration/sweaty feet, wounds, bronchitis, coughs and asthma due to its antiseptic, astringent, deodorant and antispasmodic properties. This oil strengthens an overburdened nervous system and helps to restore as sense of calm. Cypress helps in times of transition helping us to move forward, aids concentration and focus, and is good to assist us when we are having mood swings, are fearful of change and are feeling rejected and hurt. Cypress is a menstrual regulator so can be used for PMS, irregular periods, scanty periods, painful periods, heavy periods and menopausal issues e.g. hot flushes. Avoid cypress during the first trimester of pregnancy. Spruce black (Picea mariana) has a fresh, slightly fruity and resinous scent and can be used for respiratory issues like colds, flu, bronchitis, excess mucous and coughs due to its antimicrobial, antitussive (relieves coughing) and expectorant (helps get rid of mucous) properties. It is also recommended for muscular aches & pain, rheumatism, poor circulation and arthritis due to its warming and blood flow increasing properties. Spruce is also a restorative tonic for the adrenal glands so may be a good choice to help treat adrenal fatigue and to help with anxiety and stress. It is a very strengthening oil emotionally and is uplifting. Have a Super Saturday and Stay Scented Everyone!! Becky :)
