Hi All....just sent the following to the press for distribution - UPDATE Good Evening…. Please know that since the initial incident and my first reporting I am pleased to provide the following regarding the cell towers on Route 2: • All emergency service has been restored….meaning that Police, Fire and EMT’s now have full and redundant service • Crews are currently working to restore cell service for Verizon, AT&T and Sprint customers affected by this outage • Equipment is being placed and I am told that we should hope to see service returned within 24 hours • Please know that 911 services remain in place, however if without cell service, 911 will need to be accessed via a “land line” • If you do not have a land line and cannot contact 911 via cell phone…..please use the “North Adams Police Department” Facebook page or email NAPD911@gmail – both are being actively monitored Please know that both towers were completely destroyed and the systems being put in place right now are temporary solutions. Once full service is restored, engineering and other work will begin to facilitate a permanent fix. I want to thank all State agencies, regional resources and our local Emergency Management TEAM. This group has produced extreme results under extreme conditions and I thank them Finally, the shelter remains open at St. Elizabeth’s Parish Center under the direction of the City’s Emergency Management Team.
