Hi, Be there early to enjoy the session. Please see all details below sent by the Secretary of JAZZ UNLIMITED Cheers P.S. JAZZ SESSION ON SUNDAY OCTOBER 6TH 2013 AT CR & FC 1.30 P.M. ONWARDS. The month of October will soon be in our midst and following that the months of November and December which will signify that 2013 will swiftly draw to a close. Before I go any further : may I take this moment to record the passing away of Erin de Selfa an outstanding singer and a legend in our music scene. We will miss her familiar figure walking in to all our sessions whenever she was in Sri Lanka with her pianist husband Neri Fernandez, sitting near the bandstand and enjoying the performances of the musicians. She was honoured in the Golden Clef Music Hall of Fame 1994 conducted by the Sunday Observer. To Neri and her family we extend our deepest sympathies. Talking Horns - The German Brass Band by courtesy of the German Cultural Centre will perform at the session on October 6th. Their programme will be a musical voyage from New Orleans, to swing to be bop and free jazz. The group comprises two saxes, one trombone and one tuba. They will perform any time between 4.00 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. News from CR & FC - Commencing this month CR & FC will have an extended happy hour from 2.00 pm. - 3.30 p.m. for members and patrons to enjoy 3 Coins Beer. The entrance fee too has been reduced to Rs.300/= The vibes on October 6th wil be spread by :- (a) Lalith Fernando-vocals, Hilary Christie-piano, Gavin Senn-sax, Shanthi Seneviratne-drums Maxie Pietersz-double bass. (b) Surekha Amerasinghe-pianist and her group. The personnel will be announced on that day. Surekha has returned to the island after getting her Masters Degree from the United States. (c) Harsha and Khrome- with Alston Joachim-bass, Lal Witiwala-drums and Antoinette de Alwis-vocals, Antoinette will also, joined by Basil Paiva, pay their musical tribute to Erin de Selfa. To all those musicians who played in September, the list is long, we say thank you for falling in and displaying your artisty, especially to pianist Tilak de Silva who was in Sri Lanka from Switzerland and Kogomotso and Nathi who are currently performing at the Colombo Hilton. Musicians - Please make your presence with me or Antoinette de Alwis if you wish to play on October 6th or in the months to come.
