Hi Brad I would like to find out if anyone else has had a similar incident I bought a bmw x1 in October from a guy who has a small dealership from home I paid cash for the vehicle. He never mentioned any accidents, damage etc & by looking at the car, you cannot notice any damage. I had the car for 2 days and tried to take it through COR however it would not go through as it needed a new front tyre, we then discovered it had no lock nut and could not replace the tyre, Trevor who I had bought the car from told me to go to a BMW dealer and get one which I did however driving back from the dealer I felt something was still not right with the vehicle and the manager from BMW came and collected the car from me and they did a check to see if there were any other problems. The manager called me later that day to say the damage on the vehicle was so severe that BMW cancelled the warranty and service plan After investigations we discovered ******** (Insurance Company) had written the vehicle off in March 2013 in JHB. Trevor had purchased it from a salvage auction, tried to fix it and re-sell it without disclosing the information. I further sent the police from Verulam to his house, when they checked all the vehicles, they were exactly the same, all written off etc. He does not disclose this information in his ads on Gumtree or verbally when you talk to him He refuses to take our calls, we have opened a case against him but 5 months later, we are still without a vehicle and still waiting for a court date. Has anyone experienced the same type of incident and what legal route did they follow as this matter feels like it is dragging. He waits until the absolute last minute then gets his lawyer to respond to us, the system does not seem its in the consumers favour. From a reader for your comment.
