Hi Brian, (Saw you posted another customers review - feel free to do the same) I’ve been meaning to write/post this for a long time – way overdue. The 5’10” roundtail you made me is probably the all-around board I’ve ever had. I’m pretty blown away by it. If you remember, I originally asked you for a good wave board in the 5’11 range (just a slight modification to my last butta knife really). You recommended a 5’10” hipster, much wider and bit thicker than I was thinking. I admit I was a little hesitant, as I’ve never surfed anything with dims that big. Well that’s pretty much thrown out the window and now I’m looking to get rid of most of my other boards (I’ve already sold a 5’8 small wave lost, a 6 ‘1 good wave Chilli, and a 5’10 avg wave Patterson, since getting this board). I think it’s a pretty unique board – those dims from most other shapers would feel like aboat to me. This one feels like it is made exactly for my size/weight. What’s even crazier is that we’ve barely had waves on the east coast. First session was sometime this summer in really good waves – but after that it seemed like months of flatness. Board worked insane and felt comfortable off thebat but I didn’t ride it much after that first swell. Well, I was getting antsy, so not that long ago I decided to just start riding it in everything, even tiny EC slop. Turns out it is probably the best small wave board I have. Just flows and fits in tight little pockets. We finally had a nice run of swell over the past 6 days and I’m just loving it. Seems to work in every type of wave/conditions. I’ve never had a board that feels this forgiving and easy to surf but absolutely no limitations doing turns or surfing the way I want to. Really geeking out on it. My first roundtail quad also, which just feels like such a perfect setup. I’ve really missed roundtails/roundpins and feel like I do my best surfing on that type of tail. Just smooth and goes on rail/initiates turns so easily. really haven’t played around with fins since it has felt so good off the bat. I’m using kinetic racing parko quads in front (like k2.1 template) and a 4.25 flat foil glass set in the back. I haven’t moved positions or tried other fins. Would also like to try it as a thruster at some point – just to compare – any recs on fins? Seems like a bigger fin would help with theslightly wider tail. Also, you mentioned that you had a 5th fin, The Nibbler, coming along to try –would love to check it out if it’s ready. Ok – sorry for the long blast, been thinking about sending a note for a while. Also wanted to ask your opinion on a small-wave board to compliment this one. I was thinking something like that geek exterminator pro you make – maybe 5’7 ish? Probably EPS foam. Our waves on the east coast get tiny, but it is still more punchy/pockety than the mushy small waves in so cal. I’ve tried lots of boards over the years in these waves, and I really think just a short, blown up “regular” board would work best. It needs to be fast, fit in small pockets and feel somewhat like my hipster! Oh yeah, friends are super stoked on their boards too. My bigger buddy is surfing better than I’ve ever seen him surf.
