Hi Chris. I was thinking about your study earlier and how God - TopicsExpress

Hi Chris. I was thinking about your study earlier and how God speaks of the day of battle during the day of salvation but then speaks of another battle which takes place when he judges the unsaved. I was wondering if this passage was a good example of this and also of the transition of Gods wrath upon the church to the world.... Zechariah 14:1-3 Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. In verse 1 God speaks of the day of the Lord coming and then in verse 2 goes on to say that he will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle and how part of them will go into captivity and the other part not being cut off. Is this Babylon coming against the church during the day of battle (day of salvation) when the remnant of Gods elect are saved and not cut off? Then God goes on to say in verse 3... Zechariah 14:3 Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. Is this God saying that he will then (after judging the church through Babylon the nations coming against them) fight against those nations (Babylon/the unsaved) who came against the church, as when he fought in the day of battle during the day of salvation? Is God in a way likening the transitional period to him fighting against Babylon just as they fought against the church --- or in other words, that he will judge them as he judged the church during the day of battle? And so in that sense he is saying that it will be as when He fought in the day of battle to let us know that there are two battles (the battle of Armageddon/judgment day being the second battle)? Thanks!!
