Purchasing/Inventory Assistant - in the Medford, NY area JOB OVERVIEW: This position calls for processing detailed information relevant to Inventory & Bill of Material records then determining and executing appropriate actions including procurement of materials, tools and supplies as well as other goods & services. This is an office position with heavy computer and phone use. Extensive training will be provided. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but aren’t limited to the following: •Create, maintain and update Inventory and Bill of Material database •Become familiar with materials and manufacturing processes •Determine purchasing needs through inventory maintenance activities •Coordination and communication with the staff in sales, production, estimating, shipping and receiving, quality control and others •Maintain procurement records such as items or services purchased; costs; delivery; product quality or performance, and inventories •Determine source of defective/unacceptable goods or services, and take corrective actions •Expedite delivery of goods ordered •Prepare and execute purchase orders and bid request •Determine freight carriers for shipments QUALIFICATIONS •Experience based knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word and Excel is required. Enterprise IQ (or other Manufacturing software) a plus. Crystal Reports writing a plus. •Excellent oral and written communication in standard American English. A writing quiz will be administered with the first interview. •Mathematical Skills - The employee will routinely use math skills that are at or below 12th grade level. A math quiz will be administered with the first interview. •To perform this job successfully, an individual must be detail oriented. •Prior experience utilizing these skills in a business environment, preferably in a manufacturing enterprise. •High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred. Hourly salary: $14 - $17 contingent upon prior experience Monday - Friday, 1st shift
