Hi Dwight, I noticed that you put Jesse as the son of John Hogg - TopicsExpress

Hi Dwight, I noticed that you put Jesse as the son of John Hogg of Amherst County, VA. After all the research Ive done there is actually a better explanation as to where this child belongs. After some limited research into the records Ive accumulated Ive come to some conclusions. 1. I believe Jesse L Hogg is really John Hogg son of Milbourn Hogg of Albemarle County, VA I found this: Abstracts of Rev. War Pension Files Hogg, John, R5105, VA Line, appl 16 Oct 1832 Albemarle Co VA aged 69 on 15 Sep 1832, sol was b in Hanover Co VA & at an early age moved to Albemarle Co Va & he lived there at enl & afterwards moved to Fluvanna Co VA for 15 yrs & in 1819 returned to Albemarle Co VA, sol mentions a William Hogg. First of all we are given age and birthday and can determine that John was born 15 Sep 1763 in Hanover County, VA. Notice that Jesses birthday was estimated at 1765. Next John moved to Albemarle County as a young boy. Parents arent given but Milbourn was the only one that Im aware of in the county and one of his deeds declares him of Hanover County. We also learn that John has some connection with William Hogg whom I believe is his brother. We find that John remained in Albemarle County (or wherever his enlistment took him) until about 1803 when he moved to Fluvanna County. I was unable to find a Hogg timeline in Fluvanna County. We then find John returning to Albemarle County at the time of Milbourns death. There may have been a family falling out as Milbourns last will and testament mentions only his daughter Elizabeth and wife Susannah. 2. I believe that there is only one Mullenburg Hogg yet he is credited to being the son of two individuals, Jesse and John. To date I have been unable to find any sources with Jesse L Hogg in Fluvanna County. We know that John Hogg md. Molly Eads in 1991 in Albemarle County the year Mullenburg is reportedly born. Mullenburg was probably born in Albemarle County. John Hogg had returned to Albemarle County in 1819 and we find him there in the 1820 census at the age of 55 and Mullenburg would have been 29 and not yet married. In the household of Jn. Hogg (mistakenly recorded as Mo Hogg) there are 2 men, 1 between the age of 16 and 26, and 1 at 45 +. If the younger man was Mullenburg it may be that his birth year was inaccurately calculated later in his life. Of his two marriages Mullenburgs 2nd wife comes from Albemarle County. Dwight, if you have other sources to show there is a Jesse L Hogg father of Mullenburg I would be glad to get it. If not you may consider changing the information and moving the line under Milbourn of Albemarle. Thanks, Gary
