Hi Everyone, For those who havent been told, Thomas Traversa is in NZ at the moment hitting some waves down in Taranaki. Thomas won each stop of the Redbull storm chase and is currently ranked fourth in the world. He has been here for a week or so now and has met a lot of the hardcore crew of the North. Alexander (GA Sails & Tabou distributor) organised a great get together at Squid row where everyone had a few beers and chewed the fat (Alex even bought me a whiskey). In Taranaki Thomas has been ripping, he also gave everyone insight into how to tune gear and how to make the most of your sessions with modern equipment. The upcoming Barfoot & Thompson AWA Slalom Series forecast is looking very promising. Unfortunately Thomas will be gone so he cant compete, but stay tuned for more updates on how that event unfolds. The top 5 positions are all very close in both Gold & Silver fleets. If you are interested in coming up for some fun then contact the AWA committee. Word is that some out of town Gurus are coming up/down to show everyone how its done... WNZ is also working on some sponsorship with Island Holidays (islandholidays.co.nz/ ). It is great to have their support and I can say myself that they certainly cater to a surfer/windsurfers needs. When I was meant to be going to Korea they managed to get me 4 bags at no extra cost. So dont hesitate to contact them when you are planning your next trip ([email protected] or [email protected]). The Tauranaga Spring Race fun Slalom racing is also back. It is scheduled for September the 20th-21st so lock it into your calendar. It was a great event last year with one day gusting up to 55knots! For more information contact the Tauranaga crew or visit their Facebook https://facebook/events/602797369762772/?ref_newsfeed_story_type=regular . Finally a sad message from Flying Forwards Windsurfing School. After 7 years of fun Paul (Flying Forwards windsurfing school) has decided to get a proper job. Flying forwards windsurf school is for sale. Reason is mainly due to working weekends vs family commitments. The school is mobile (runs from a van and trailer) so can be an easy set up for anywhere in country. If anyone is interested dont hesitate to contact Paul. The school runs well paying a hefty mortgage and feeding kids.Good opportunity for the right person. I would love to see it run on the hibiscus coast as is an excellent location with plenty of regular existing customers. (Paul 021781315) Hope all is well and keep me updated with news. For emails like this then send me your details and I will add you to the database. We currently have 156 people :0. Mahalo
