Hi Everyone, Herewith Slang (from SA Scooters) apology. He could not post it himself on TB as he is currently blocked (I hope that in good faith TB will unblock him, Charles Culbert): My APOLOGY - to the think bikers Recently I was involved in a discussion on FB, regarding a topic very near and dear to my heart. IE> an injured scooter rider and the subsequent lack of respect shown towards scooter riders in general. 1. At first I attacked the admin of the Think Bike FB page for allowing such comments on their FB page. One would expect that more of the members of this particular page, would have voiced their disgust regarding the disrespect that was shown. Sadly, this did not happen. I got the impression that most of the members on that page condoned their disrespecting and disgusting behaviour. Up to just before I left that page, only a handful of people indicated that the disgusting comments towards the injured scooter rider, was not in the spirit of biking. This perception resulted in my retaliation. 2. Secondly, I retaliated against a few commentators who called me an arsehole and an idiot. Who would not? But, it was wrong from my side. 3. Thirdly, I made the biggest mistake of them all, by letting my emotions dictate my reasoning. 4. When I heard of the stolen bike, the obvious next step in the ‘debate’ was to use that to get back at the people that insulted me. Yes, childish behaviour from my side. The sad part of my post, is that it got more attention, than the original post where people made disgusting comments towards an injured rider. I have duly removed all posts on my FB pages, as well as the SA SCOOTERS site. Except for the one article about ‘Think rider….then think bike’ as I believe that article and the points made in it, provides a lot of value towards riders of all machines, having the correct attitude towards each other. At least it makes a few people think about biking in general. (Any are welcome to let me know, if there is any I missed and it will be removed) I do hereby apologize to any person that felt disrespected by my posts. It was not meant and was merely a way to get back at those that insulted me. Although I removed all applicable posts and forum threads on my side, I do not expect you to remove any offending posts as long as you post this letter of apology with it. Furthermore, I have made a solemn promise/s to myself: To never ever again, visit or even read any posts on any Think Bike related sites or FB pages again. I just cannot stand any injustice towards scooter riders and will feel compelled to get involved again. I will keep a very clear distance from now on. There is only so much time in which to enjoy biking and episodes like these just rob a person of that valuable time. What I will not do, is keep people from joining the TB initiative. I have quite a personal interest in TB, sprouting from things that happened before TB started. I will still, as I’ve been doing for the past 6 years, refer scooter riders to TB, as I believe in what TB stands for. But, I will warn them against the intolerance towards scooter riders. I will warn them that they must be the lesser person, if they are to be accepted into the biking fraternity. To conclude, again my apologies to those that I offended. Slang – SA SCOOTERS
