Hi Everyone, I promise that this will be a shorter letter than yesterday. I had such a back log of events to tell. I feel very sad just now as I have just learnt that my cousin Charlie has just lost his dear wife Fifi. I have only regained contact with them over this last 12 months and visited them in June while we were at Coolangatta. She was a dear humble person who enjoyed the Facebook page where we kept in contact. She followed us while we were on the South American cruise and she told me how much she enjoyed my postings. Our hearts go out to Charlie and all the family at this time of loss. Today we have been experiencing very bad weather as there is a storm system moving from the Gulf of Alaska into the SE Alaska coastal waters. It has been predicted to bring very strong winds, but also generate 25 feet high seas It has been raining all day and yes the seas are high and rough. The ship rides well so we have not been really feeling it. The itinerary has had to be revised and the port of Sitka has been cancelled. The decision was made for our comfort and safety. That is the only port which we have not visited but never mind. As the saying goes "We will do it next time" We have been sailing through very scenic straights today with tall trees either side of the ship at times. This morning while we were at breakfast we looked out the window and all we could see was porpoises leaping and following the wash of the ship. There must have been hundreds and they kept us entertained. We went to hear the Port talk this morning. We have been to all the ports but you still learn something new. We were invited to a Complimentary Dinner in the Pinnacle Grill. This is the up market dining room where you pay extra if you want an intimate dinner. It was formal night so we accepted. The dinner was beautiful and the waiters had a lot of fun sharing our experiences. They think we are very brave coming all this way to do a cruise in America and then doing the long cruise back to Australia. We then tell them that we have done 103 days and that blows them away. Tomorrow we are in Ketchikan. The weather forecast is clear skies but we will wait and see. We arrive at 10.30am and leave at 5.30pm. Bedtime is calling so Goodnight Love Nev & Joan.
