Hi Everyone, So summer is finally here and we are less than three weeks, yes that’s right three weeks, away from the RS200 National Championships in Mounts Bay. To enter this amazing event, go to rs200sailing.org/champs/cindex.asp?eid=530 Firstly I need to make a small apology on behalf of your social team, apologies that we’re only just sending you the social program. The problem is we’ve just got so much to cram in it’s been very difficult to work out where to put things!! Programme Saturday - Briefing, Gate Starting Intro, Speed Dating Dress Code - Anything goes as long as it’s clothes After the official bits of the briefing, including an introduction to gate starting from our esteemed race officer Malcolm, we have the return of inter-boat speed dating. Don’t panic, you’re not expected to give out your phone number, it’s just an opportunity to meet and chat to people you might not have spoken to before, whether you’re new to the fleet or not. Sunday - Crews Union Dress Code - Ready for anything As it’s the first day of racing we thought the helms might need to get their heads down in a dark room to recover, but we know the crews are always keen for entertainment. Forget any preconceptions you may have about crews unions if you’re new to it, it’s a place to meet new people, play some silly games and not have to talk about sailing (unless you really want to!) Monday - Karaoke Night Dress Code - “Rock Gods” The partying starts for real on Monday night. All you need to do is arrive ready and prepared to unleash your inner Rock God. The Boom of Doom will also be making an appearance so be prepared! Prizes will be available for both the best costumes, but also the best performances. For those of you who ever dreamt of X Factor fame, this could be your warm up! Tuesday - Trip to St Michael’s Mount Dress Code - Smart casual One of the highlights of every Championships held at Mounts Bay is the trip up to the Mount. Now I’ve never been before but rumour has it we catch a boat across to the Mount and share a few drinks in the private grounds as guests of the esteemed owners. Wednesday - Buddy Games Night - Pub Quiz meets School Sports Day Dress Code - Exactly what it says on the tin The RS200 fleet runs a buddy series throughout the event, with the winners being crowned at the prize giving on Thursday. This year for the first time the buddy prize will not be based solely on your combined sailing scores - your overall position in the buddy night is equally important! We’ve got a full range of activities planned, from quiz rounds to egg and spoon races - there will be lots of opportunities to make gains on your nearest rivals! Obviously points will be docked for poor attendance so you all need to be excellent friends with your buddies by Wednesday! Thursday - BBQ, Prize Giving and Party with an excellent local band Dress Code - Lounge Suits and Cocktail Dress As much as I don’t want to think about the event finishing, it’s going to go out with a bang. BBQ tickets are available from the website so make sure you get them early so you don’t miss out! We have an excellent band, beautiful scenery and the RS200 fleet suited and booted what more could you need for a good party?! Other useful bits of information... ★ Daily prize giving at 9 o’clock every evening for winners of the day - Gold, Silver, Bronze, Buddies and Duckhams ★ Stories of gross underachievement for Duckhams need to go to Ally Martin or Pete Bentley before 9 pm to ensure the appropriate recognition is given. ★ If we’re postponed at any point during the week, we have a number of racing seminars planned, so keep an ear out for announcements. To enter this amazing event, go to rs200sailing.org/champs/cindex.asp?eid=530 We’re massively looking forward to it, so we hope you are too. Lots of love, Your Social Team.
