Hi Everyone, So we saw that Spring Gully faced demise and has had their future look a lot brighter following a buy local campaign. I think we need to start another one that also highlights general food and produce and when needed, individual businesses in strife. Simplot are another food processor facing tough times and it’s looking as though two factories that process frozen peas, corn and potatoes will close. If you need to buy frozen foods or processed foods, look to see where it comes from. Even if the company is foreign owned, food grown locally provides a good base for employment for many people – the growers, pickers, transporters and processors. In Simplot’s case, the majority of farmers who sell to them, sell only to them so if Simplot closes, those growers will have crops with nowhere to go. People, spend your money as locally as you can to keep Australia in good health. The specials this week are- • JAP pumpkin- 89c per kilo • 2kg bag Kestrel Potatoes- $3.48 each • Pink Lady Apples (off the wagon)- $1.79 per kilo • Small Tomatoes- $2.48 per kilo • p/pack Snow Peas - $2.99 each • 3kg bag Oranges - $2.99 each FYI: Construction and renovation works next door continues, sometimes placing pressure on car parking. Rest assured it is only short term, and we still provide car service and home delivery for you. Did you know we: have dried Australian Mango? Delivery for retail customers is available to your home or workplace- Balaklava on any shop day, Owen on Thursdays and then Port Wakefield is available on Mondays and Fridays, Lochiel on Friday. If you would like delivery in the surrounding areas let us know and we will see if we can swing by when in the area! Facebookers can use a word document if you like. You can fax, phone, email or drop off an order but if you do email, please give us a quick call if it is needed on the same day and you haven’t received a confirmation email so we know to go online. The night before you want an order is usually fine though.
