Hi Everyone Well now the Election is over, we can all breathe a sigh of relief and hopefully the economy will change all around Australia and Toowoomba especially over the next few years. Topics for discussion: Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers TRC CBD Car Parking Strategy Establishment of CBD Markets - Our Guest will be Lisa Gibbs, Co-ordinator of Queens Park Markets We are now coming into Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers time and as confirmed by our last email, Mel Kite, TCOF Events Co-ordinator, has arranged blanket cover for businesses in the CBD and the City Heart Toowoomba Group to trade out from 10am on Carnival Saturday 21.9.2013 and the following Saturday 28.9.2013, with entertainment from 10am to 2pm, as long as your business or the entertainer/activity you are providing on the sidewalk is covered by insurance and you clean up afterwards. There are some events and activities planned for the CBD on these Saturdays, if you have something happening at your business or you know of someone else in the CBD we would love to publicise them on our Facebook site for you to share with your Facebook site and encourage as many people as possible to visit the CBD pre-parade and at other times of Carnival week – to take part in - shop, work, eat, entertainment – SWEET. What is your business or your neighbouring business doing for carnival, are you decorating your windows, are you trading out, do you have entertainers, we don’t want to double up and interfere with what you have planned but do want to promote it. Here are some ideas from some businesses: Lady Tulip – trading out with Flowers, Lollies and entertainer Harvey World Travel Toowoomba – wearing festive floral shirts/clothing to promote carnival theme Joel’s Mens Salon – Floral window featuring Hairdressing theme 10 businesses on Margaret and Ruthven Streets taking part in Creative Tanks So far we know the following is happening: Saturday 21.9.2013 and/to 28.9.2013 Creative Tanks – co-ordinated by Made.Creative Space Toowoomba Vocal Fire Barbership Quartet will move around the CBD entertaining with singing Teela’s Face Painting will set up in different areas to provide face painting Representatives from the CHTG will take part in the Parade with the support of Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce and Industry and CEO Greg Johnson City Heart Toowoomba Fashion Event 27-28.9.2013 – Stay tuned for more information 14 Fashion Boutiques and Specialist Retail Businesses are involved with this event over two days with the support of Style and My City Heart Magazine Friday 27.9.2013 – After Five Fashion – Bon Amici Cafe 5.30pm for 6.00pm, table bookings essential through Bon Amici Cafe Saturday 28.9.2013 – Lifestyle Fashion – Bon Amici Cafe 10.00am for 10.30am, table bookings essential through Bon Amici Cafe Confirmed Businesses participating are: Bon Amici Cafe The Wardrobe Designing Brides The Linen Chest City Style Smoke & Mirrors Harvey World Travel Toowoomba 3 Little Monkeys The Cumquat Tree Ivy Collections Duet Fashion House Globetrotters Travel Agency If you would like to be involved in any of the above activities, please let me know, we would love to have you be part of it.
