Hi Folks It almost time for the 19th annual Lambs Retreat For Songwriters in beautiful Harbor Springs, Michigan. Reservations are being taken NOW. I cant possibly say enough good things about it. Whether youre just beginning to write songs or youre already an experienced songwriter, come and be part of a great group of people and learn a few things. In addition to the songwriting workshops being given by this years staff (see list below), you will be given a songwriting assignment by songwriting assignment giver extraordinaire John D. Lamb. Its a terrific challenge, and you will succeed! Then on Sunday morning you will share your song with everyone else. If that sounds intimidating, then just imagine the triumphant feelings you will have after overcoming your fears, in a safe and encouraging environment tailor-made for you. This is a great chance to get away from all the things that keep you from writing so that you can really focus for a few days. Along with the songwriting tips and pointers youll pick up, and the new song(s) youll write, youll have plenty of opportunities to share songs you may have already written. Each night theres an open mic you can sign up to sing at, and theres always a song circle or two happening after hours. Therell be good food, good vibes, and you couldnt ask for a more idyllic setting than the Birchwood Inn, located 5 miles outside of the sweet little village of Harbor Springs and directly across the road from the shores of Lake Michigan. For the early risers there will be a morning hike. For the stay-up-laters there will be plenty of people vouching afterward about how great a morning hike they had. There will be a staff concert on Saturday night featuring the outstanding songwriters who youll be learning from. More than anything else though, you will feel warmly welcomed into a great community of folks who gather every year to spend a few days together celebrating the craft of songwriting. Ive been coming for many years, regardless of whether or not Im part of the staff, because its always a highlight of my year. This time I will be an artist-in-residence available to work with you one-on-one if you wish. There are two different Retreat weekends, with an option to stay for both at a hugely discounted price. You can also share a room to cut costs, or you can have a room of your own.
