Hi Folks, Railings and grills: Traditionally, grills started - TopicsExpress

Hi Folks, Railings and grills: Traditionally, grills started with cast iron designs made in foundries. The process was extended to other metals like copper and brass used in combination to design all components necessary for a building. The grill designs that we saw till recently were MS bars, flats and other structural’s fabricated through welding process to the required designs. Sometimes cast iron pieces welded to these fabricated grills would add glamour to the designs. The latest material used in grills is stainless steel, this is because it adds to the timeless value to the building with its inherent properties of resistance to corrosion, increasing its life expectancy to a 1000 years, it gives great finish when polished. It has great structural strength and the looks are killing. Hence it is voted as the most environmentally friendly material. Since cutting of stainless steel using heat process was giving undesirable results, not many were using it. The new cold cut technologies offer tremendous scope for its use in construction industry and the design possibilities have become unlimited. Cast iron, Mild steel grills have to be painted and protected from the forces of nature to avoid corrosion, this is not the case with stainless steel as it takes mat and gloss finish and does not require painting at all. It is good to try other metals like copper, brass, and aluminum for designing grills. Glass, stones, polyurethane, poly carbonates used in conjunction with metals of your choice will boost the level of creativity and designs. We at Desai Eco Infratech will design, fabricate the most intricate designs in any combination of metals, non metals, castings etc to give you the best customized solutions your creative mind deserves. Hope, I made the discussion interesting and I need your valuable feedback on it. Thanks and regards, Vivekananda G Desai
